Shutterstile's exclusive Bahama© style shutters

Bahama style shutters
  • a touch of the Caribbean
  • relief from the summer sun
  • add dimension to your home
  • privacy without sacrificing visibility

Why would a company like Shutterstile, known for its innovative shutter designs, offer a more traditional Bahama style shutter? Bahama shutters are all about the beach; and we love the beach. We live and work in a waterfront community. So we had to have Bahama shutters on the south side of our own home.

But anyone who is familiar with our other shutter designs will understand that our Bahama shutters had to be special. We begin with our favorite exterior wood: Spanish cedar. We make the frame a full 1 3/8 inches thick, then add 1 3/4 inch wide louvers for that Caribbean flavor. Then comes the best part — Shutterstile's Bahama shutters come with a built-in, hinged mounting bracket1 that makes installation a breeze and saves you a ton of money that you would otherwise spend for one of those ugly aftermarket hinges.

But we didn't stop there. We found the available stays to be inadequate, so we designed our own stay system2 that allows a full range of positions, from horizontal to fully closed on most installations. And we make the stays to fit your shutters — for less money than most companies charge for non-adjustable stays.

As with all of our shutters, the Bahama style is available unfinished or in virtually any solid color (Shown in Spanish Cedar with a Buttermilk yellow acrylic paint). And, we use only environmentally friendly low-VOC, water-based finishes

Shutterstile's Bahama shutters are custom-made to your specifications. [Shown in 2/3 height3, face mounted, with the optional stay system.]

handcrafted in Virginia's Northern Neck

  1. Our hinged bracket system is designed for face-mounted shutters, but we can also build a similar system for recessed shutters for a small additional charge.
  2. Our optional, adjustable stay system is designed for face-mounted shutters.
  3. We like the 2/3 height style as it provides just the right amount of shade, but still allows a good view from most windows. But our Bahama shutters can be made in any height you specify.
